Be careful with your personal information and credit cards. Review all bank and credit card statements. Get a shredder for disposal of any personal info paperwork.
You should check your credit report at least annually (AnnualCreditReport.com). You can freeze your credit files for a small fee. That way no new accounts could be open.
Don’t waste money on any monthly fee monitoring program.
Always check your credit reports, and shread any preapproval offers you might receive.
Most thief happens in restaurants because the server walks away with the debit card and can make a copy then have a hard copy made. That’s way I never use a debt card it restaurants. I suggest you put your account on fraud alert through Trans Union Fraud Dept. Their toll free # 1-800-680-7289. They will notify the others bureaus. It has to be renewed every 90 days in order to keep it active. You can also request your free credit reports from annualcreditreport.com or call them toll free # 1-877-322-8228 for all 3 free reports. If there is something you’re not aware of, dispute it immediately. Better to be safe than sorry later.
